POETRY by Angela
An English Sonnet
Thine eyes shine like the celestial stars,
They guide my weak heart through paths of darkness,
No more shall it stay behind prison bars,
In wait to protect thee from cold heartless.
Exquisite beauty like yours cannot hide
From a longing Adonis' sweet gaze,
Who desires your soul's fate to be tied,
A future colored with nothing but greys.
Yet mine heart sheds an emotion sincere,
With my eternal devotion, you own
Love for more than what's shown in the mirror,
Once eyes leer at you, my grim thoughts have flown.
Be there foes afoot, I'll save you from fray,
Protecting your heart like pure buds in May.
